Shared Experiences The following experiences were volunteered and are examples of what many people have experienced after reading Quality Longevity, having the Prime Test and using the Quality Longevity Program. Results vary depending on the type of symptoms and how thoroughly one uses the information. It is important to have a doctor and health counselor help you who are trained in this type of preventive care so that you receive accurate information and the type of support you need. I have worked for some of the most effective health spas and never observed the dramatic results I have experienced from using the Quality Longevity Program. I am free from the old food cravings and feel better than I did 30 years ago. For more than two decades I have been researching different approaches for achieving the healthiest, life-building diet. I have had weekly headaches most of my life. They started when I was a child. I am now in my fifties and have gone to several types of doctors through the years trying to find relief. I was told to try hormones and medications for my migraines. I followed their advice, but still had headaches and hated the way the drugs made me feel. I then saw a nutritionist and tried extensive regimes of vitamins, minerals and dietary changes. I did get quite a bit of improvement, but I still had a couple of headaches a week. I felt I was allergic to something I was eating, but could not discover more than one or two foods that were causing symptoms. Since I started the Quality Longevity Program eleven months ago, my weight is down 30 pounds, and I have been able to keep it off. I have a 33-inch waist for the first time since college. Even more exciting is that my body fat dropped from 22% to 13.3%. With exercise, I am building lean muscles and my percentage of body fat remains low. My total blood cholesterol level has dropped from 238 to 160. This indicates that I am cleaning out blockages from my coronary, cerebral and other arteries. And, I feel healthier. When I eat something the Prime Test indicated was a problem for me and have an old symptom come back, I know what caused the problem. This leaves me much more at choice than the mystery I lived in before. Surprisingly, I rarely feel constrained by my new lifestyle. Three generations of my family have now read Quality Longevity and have had the Prime Test done. My mother, wife, daughter and I are all enjoying better health. So far, each person I have enrolled into trying this approach has noticed significant improvement. Although each area of health care currently has difficulty understanding, accepting and appreciating other points of view, I look forward to the day when we all recognize that eating properly is the highest priority. Im 78 years old and have not been able to see my ankles since I was 21. I have had swelling in my ankles all that time. Pat Farmer National Assistance League, Carlsbad, CA, 1999 Two years ago my doctor recommended I go to the Pritikin Center to reduce my blood cholesterol. The Pritikin Center has a four-week live-in diet program that has been successful for many people who want to reverse arterial disease and lose weight. Their diet has no added fat and almost no cholesterol. It is 10% fat, 10% protein, 80% carbohydrate and has less than 25 milligrams of cholesterol a day. After completing their regular four-week live-in program, I had not lost any weight and my total blood cholesterol came down only 28 points. I stayed another two weeks for a total of six weeks but only lost one pound and my cholesterol level was still too high. I was very discouraged. A few months ago my personal trainer recommended I have a new type of blood test for delayed food allergies. While reading Quality Longevity, I realized that I may have been having allergic reactions to some of the cereal grains, dairy products and other foods that are a big part of the Pritikin Program. These reactions could cause me to retain excess water and might keep my blood cholesterol level from coming down to a healthy level. After having the Prime Test and special counseling, I avoided the foods that were shown on the test to be a problem for me, including wheat and dairy products. After nine days on the Quality Longevity Program my weight dropped 10 pounds and I went down three pant sizes. After three weeks my cholesterol went down from 199 to 149, for a total of 50 points, and I became free of several other symptoms that had been bothering me. I am delighted. When I later tried the foods that were shown on my Prime Test to be a problem for me, my weight went back up and some old symptoms came back. The Pritikin Program and the Quality Longevity Program have the same level of fat, protein, carbohydrate and cholesterol, thus the dramatic improvement in results must have come from avoiding my delayed food allergies. My mother had been feeling poorly almost every day. I told her about the Quality Longevity Program and she took the Prime Test and received the counseling. She has been free of her symptoms for three months and has lost 25 pounds. She is delighted. My daughter wanted to try the Program but her medical doctor talked her out of it. I was healthy and mostly a vegetarian. In an attempt to lose some weight and further improve our diets, my wife and I went on the Zone Diet made up by Barry Sears, PhD. The diet has 30 percent fat, 30 percent protein and lots of cholesterol. After two months, my health came crashing down. I began feeling pressure in my chest. I went to a doctor hoping to confirm that it was just stress, and zap, I'm in the hospital with my chest sawed open, the dazed recipient of quadruple-bypass-open-heart surgery. I went to several medical specialists, but none could discover the cause of my problem. The doctors informed me that many people develop this problem sometime in their lives. I was 32, into health foods, running and biking everyday, had excellent endurance; but I came to a stop whenever my heart missed beats. I went to a one-day seminar called Quality Longevity. I saw the three major breakthroughs in preventive care come together for the first time and realized that everyone could be helped. Part of my motivation for taking the Prime Test and using the Quality Longevity Program was to see if it would strengthen my immune system so I would have fewer and less severe outbreaks. Since starting the program I have had no outbreaks unless I ate some of the foods which showed up on the Prime Test. So long as I eat my compatible foods, I no longer have to take Acyclovir. Eight years ago I went to my doctor because I was having diarrhea after eating. I had been having diarrhea nearly every day for several years. He told me my problem was caused by gallstones and I would have to have my gallbladder removed. My doctor assured me the surgery would stop my diarrhea. The doctor removed my gallbladder but I continued to have diarrhea after most meals. He told me to eat Metamucil, but it did not solve the problem. I often wondered if there was not a better approach. I heard about the Prime Test and decided to try it. Within two days of starting the Quality Longevity Program my diarrhea was gone. I threw out the Metamucil. Whenever I test a reactive food to see if delayed food allergies are really the problem, my body reminds me of how life was for years. Because of another part of the program, I discovered I had a potentially life-threatening problem in another area of my body. I took appropriate action and am now in better health than I have been in years. Name withheld by request. For a year and a half I had been suffering from a chronic cough. I went to a well-respected traditional doctor to discover the cause. He had me get numerous x-rays and blood tests, but could not find the cause. The doctor said I was allergic to something, but there was no test to find out what it was. He prescribed one of the new, powerful antihistamine medications to treat my symptoms. Even though the cause of my cough was not removed, the cough went away. However, the side effects of the antihistamine were uncomfortable. I was so light-headed and dizzy I could not drive. Another problem was cost. The antihistamine cost $100 a month. The costs for the doctor, blood tests and x-rays were $445. I stopped the medication and went back to struggling with my cough. I told a dear friend of mine the problem and she told me about her recent health improvements after taking the Prime Test for delayed allergies. I decided to try the program. Within six weeks my cough was gone. One side effect was losing 18 pounds, which was not only bearable, but delightful. I have tested myself a couple of times to see what happens if I eat some of the foods which showed up on my Prime Test. Within an hour my cough comes back and it lasts for three hours. I have worked for years to find the best approaches to health for myself and for my patients. Besides studying traditional approaches while a nurse, I went on to become a Naturopathic Doctor and have a large practice of satisfied patients. However, I could see there was a missing peace of the health puzzle. I saw my patients and myself doing much better because of the modalities I was using, but we still had numerous symptoms and health problems. I suspected these problems were caused by us eating foods that were causing allergic reactions. I researched the different ways to test which foods were compatible with the body. One test that is widely available is the ALCAT test. It processes a person's white blood cells through a machine to see which ones are killed by delayed allergic reactions to foods. I had a small blood sample taken and had it analyzed by the ALCAT test. I was suspicious the ALCAT test had missed many of my allergy causing foods so I decided to check its results by taking the Prime Test. Ten of my major symptom causing foods (brewers yeast, eggs, beef, olives, coconut, barley, corn, oats, rice and rye) were shown to kill my white blood cells by the Prime Test but were missed by the ALCAT test. Just a few short weeks ago I began my journey to Quality Longevity. My digestion has improved, my energy level has increased, I no longer have pain at an abdominal suture site, and my leg cramps have reduced dramatically. Had I relied on the ALCAT test it is unlikely that my health would have improved. I would have been mislead into believing that delayed food and chemical allergies were not my symptoms or the cause of my patients symptoms. With accurate testing and the information in Quality Longevity, I see great potential for helping myself and others beyond what is normally possible. I am excited to see what the future brings! I spent hundreds of dollars and much time trying traditional and non-traditional treatments - estrogen therapy, which caused me to swell up; Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Treatment (NAET), which was no help; acupuncture; all kinds of cleansing programs, but I continued to be plagued and frustrated by symptoms that persisted no matter what I did. I had reached desperation with heat and swelling in my face and head. My left cheek would swell and burn until I felt I would go crazy. Sometimes the burning was so severe, I thought I might be dying. My eyes would also swell, itch and burn. My mouth never felt comfortable because of a constant burning sensation. The allergic inflammation and excess fat in my diet began closing off the pores in my skin which deliver natural lubrication and moisture to the skin. As more and more of my pores shut down, my skin became dryer. I continued to eat foods that caused delayed allergic reactions and consumed more fat thinking that was what I needed. Seven years ago I took the Prime Test to become free of suddenly-appearing physical ailments and to lose weight. The test, along with the Quality Longevity program, worked well, however, as I became complacent with my good health, I returned to many of my former eating habits. The symptoms I have experienced over the past seven years include: severe headaches; water retention; rapid weight gain; inability to lose weight; severe swelling of eye and esophageal tissues; red irritated eyes; stubborn yeast infections; sinus congestion and nasal drip; throat constrictions; sore throat; pain in the inner ear; hair loss; skin rashes; hives and itching. I have also experienced light-headedness when exposed to cosmetics, perfumes, lotions, detergents, bleach, chlorine, preservatives and other chemicals. Had I not known about the Prime Test and delayed food and chemical allergies, I would have continued to suffer, and most likely would have embarked on what could have been a lengthy and costly pursuit of attempting to find cure via additional medical approaches or alternative therapies. Prior to being introduced to the Prime Test, I was not aware that the symptoms I was experiencing were caused by delayed allergic reactions, nor would I have characterized myself as an individual with allergies. In fact, I thought I was a healthy 28-year-old female, until symptoms began to appear after my home was remodeled. At the time, I was exposed to several chemicals that contaminated the air for several months. These exposures, and a lifetime of eating the standard American diet, had both contributed to weakening my immune system, and deteriorating my health. I've tested the Prime Test results by strictly adhering to the diet, integrating some of my allergy-causing foods back into my diet, and complete non-compliance. Each time I restarted eating the foods shown to be compatible on my Prime Test, I have experienced a "wellness cycle" that began with the disappearance of my symptoms and unwanted weight. I do not recommend this "on again - off again" approach, however it proved for me the value of the Prime Test and eating my compatible foods. I have tried most of the regular approaches with little help. As yet, the Quality Longevity program has not helped my asthma, however, it dramatically reduced my total blood cholesterol in just eight days. My level went from 256 to 157. What is particularly interesting is that my diet was fairly low in fat and cholesterol before I started the program, so the drop must have largely come from avoiding the foods like wheat and corn that caused reactions on my Prime Test. It's been eight (8) months since you gave us the results of our Prime Tests and did our counseling. I have been very good at carefully following the plan. Irma's schedule has prevented her from following the plan as carefully as I but she, too, has made progress. I am now 65 years old and my blood cholesterol level has been dangerously high for years. I have also been somewhat overweight. With my levels, it was just a matter of time until I had a heart attack or worse. When I started the Quality Longevity Program, I weighed 200 pounds and had a cholesterol reading of 249. Within one month, my cholesterol had dropped to 199. It had NEVER been that low in the 30 years I have monitored it. Now, eight months later, my cholesterol is 160! And, my weight has dropped by 30 pounds and I've lost over 2 inches around my waist. You suggested that I would notice an increase in energy and perhaps require less sleep. That has been true to a modest extent, but the main results of lower cholesterol and weight reduction have been the most noticeable. What made this program work for me is that I LOVE the "diet." Mandell Burnet, TX, 2000 The purpose of this letter is to provide information and support to those who are pursuing optimum health, yet have come upon unexplained hurdles in their path to achieving their health goals. During the last 10 years, my wife and I have eaten organically grown foods, drunk raw juices, avoided foods that contain sugar and avoided most foods high in fat and cholesterol. And, we have also undergone many intestinal cleansing programs. All of these have been very beneficial to our health and we firmly believe in them. However, during this time period, we were under the illusion that we were in fact very healthy. I have had numerous back problems throughout my life and have tried several therapies without lasting help. After studying about delayed food and chemical allergies, I realized that some of the foods I was eating may be adding to my back problems. I tried an elimination diet with little improvement, but still wondered if some of the foods I was eating were somehow preventing a complete recovery. Before I took the Prime Test, my back was so sore and stiff that I could not touch my toes. After two days of eating only the foods that were shown by my Prime Test to be compatible, I experienced a most pleasant surprise. I had a backlog of gardening and pruning to do and had a friend come over to help. Weathers, MD, wrote it when he was the director of California's prison hospitals. He had taken Medical Service Center's white-blood-cell test for delayed food and chemical allergies. After receiving the related counseling and improving his lifestyle, he became free of his symptoms. I enthusiastically support the work that you and your staff are doing and am looking forward to providing clinical evaluation and studies that will be of benefit in predicting behavioral changes as well as T cell pathology as a result of the AIDS virus. What I have proposed and intend to accomplish utilizing the cytotoxic test, is to provide a double blind study with controls as regards aberrations of behavior, particularly violence proneness and individual reactivity to industrial allergens as determined by the testing. Additionally, in a separate study, is that of assessing inmates diagnosed as having AIDS or AIDS Related Complex as they progress with the illness. Additionally, the effects of removal of proven allergens as a part of their treatment program will be evaluated. As you may know, I have had some personal experience, all very positive, from the cytotoxic testing services provided by your facility. I am also aware that there is some controversy regarding cytotoxic testing compared to RAST testing and the old traditional skin test. I guess it is understandable in the face of something that is as new and challenging as your service. But I am dismayed to see the hesitancy that exists on the part of medicine to make vast use of this proven modality. You and your staff are on the cutting edge of a new frontier in allergy testing that has great merit, and I trust there will be no impediments thrown in your path to delay work and progress in this most significant area of need.
